'Kosa: The Silken threads of Bhandara'
This project is a documentation of the lives and craft of the weavers from
Bhandara District of Maharashtra.
The Craft Cluster initiative at NIFT is designed with the objectives to sensitize students at NIFT, to the realities of the craft sector and give insight into regional sensibilities and diversities, resources and environment.
Experience from this Project
Through this documentation, we made ourselves aware about the handloom weavers of Bhandara, and were able to increase our sensitivity about the gorgeous handloom craft of Maharashtra.
Owing to COVID-19 pandemic, we were not able to visit the cluster, therefore we interacted with the artisans online, as effectively as possible, and the document was made based on first hand information from them as well as secondary research.
